Academic Honors
Dean's List
Students who achieve outstanding academic records during the semester may be named to the Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must complete a minimum of three courses in a given semester and have no D's. The minimum grade point average for Dean's List is 3.4.
College Honors at Graduation
Cumulative average, rank in class, and honors will be calculated on academic work completed only at Washington College or Washington College-approved programs.
- Summa Cum Laude - cumulative average: 3.875
- Magna Cum Laude - cumulative average: 3.625
- Cum Laude - cumulative average: 3.437
Departmental Honors at Graduation
Departmental honors, which are appropriately noted on the student's permanent record and on the Commencement program by the statement "with honors in (major subject)," are determined by the quality of work done both in major courses and in the Senior Capstone Experience. The minimum requirement is Dean's List average in course-work and honors level work in the Senior Capstone.
